Stand in Tyson's Corner Benefiting the Hellman Family
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehrig's disease affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Over time, individuals lose their strength and the ability to speak, eat, move and breathe. ALS usually strikes people between the ages of 40 and 70. The cause is unknown and there is no cure. Estimated life expectancy once diagnosed is 2-5 years. A benefit is being held to raise funds not covered by insurance including house modifications, a wheelchair accessible van, in-home care, and other outstanding expenses the Hellman Family will be facing.
